Jesus

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

WHO IS JESUS?

He is the son of God (John 6:69). He carried our sins to the cross so that we can have eternal life. Confused? Jesus came to earth with absolutely zero sin... Before He came, God's people made sacrifices to God to cover their sins and tried to please God with acts and obedience. But when Jesus came, He (who knew no sin) became sin and carried the heavy weight of our sins to His death on the cross. In accepting Him as our Lord and Saviour, and by believing in Him, we can receive eternal life - Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins! He died and rose to life three days later (Matthew 28: 5-6) and that is why, in His name, we too can overcome death.

Jesus isn't just our Lord and Saviour, He is also our father, healer, redeemer, and friend. He is called Immanuel, "God is with us," because He is God in the flesh and He is ever-present in our lives. Psalm 46:1-3 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." He carries us, He goes ahead of us, and His Holy Spirit helps guide us through every situation. So, not only is there freedom from death in Christ, there is also so much more that He brings; love, peace, guidance, grace, joy, health, and the gifts of the Spirit.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

WHAT'S NEXT?

If you'd like to to know Jesus better, you've already taken the first step to a new season of your life! You were  created to have a close relationship with your God and He is willing and able to carry you through your life and all its stages. It's really easy to get started - just follow the steps on how to start a relationship with Jesus.

1. Acknowledge: Tell God that you're a sinner: the word of God says that we are all sinners

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23

2. Repent:  Sin separates us from God, so it's important to repent for our sins- tell God that you're sorry for your sins and make a wholehearted effort to leave your past sins behind.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

3. Believe:  God sent His son, Jesus, to die for your sins so we need to confess our faith to Him and thank Him for what he did for us.

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 20:31

4. Receive: Receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. This is the best part! There's no special way to do this- just ask Jesus to  come into your life and be your Lord and Saviour.

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9
